90.3 The Core is hosting their 5th annual CoreFest to Celebrate all the great music and artistic talent that comes out of New Brunswick. We here at the Review think it would be good for you, your friends, your mom, your dad and whoever else you can think of, to go.
This Saturday, April 2, at 2:30 PM, local boys and girls of the city will be at the Cook Student Center to take in all CoreFest has to offer.
Milkmen, Dollys, Rita Fishbone, Modern Chemistry, and Puddle Splasher, all local New Brunswick bands, will perform displaying a variety of what the New Brunswick music scene has to offer. They will all perform before the headliner, A Great Big Pile of Leaves, from Brooklyn, hits the stage.
The people who put this great day together are thrilled about this years line up. Danielle Bruno, The Core’s General Manager told us about her personal experience about all the great acts CoreFest brings in.
The past four years I’ve seen headlining acts like Perennial Reel and Marissa Paternoster, from the Screaming Females’, side project Noun. The Core has brought in big name headliners as a way to showcase the New Brunswick local bands.”
A Great Big Pile of leaves, this years headliner, is an Indie-Rock band with a fan base well outside of New Brunswick. This will be one of their wrap up stops of their U.S. and European Tour.
The event has always focused on giving the local New Brunswick art scene a stage to let the community know just how diverse and talented the area is. So honestly, it’s bigger than us as a station having a fundraiser, it’s really all about the music and art.”
Danielle also wanted to throw a huge thank you to all the staff that helped out.
CoreFest will be held at The Rutgers University Cook Student Center. Doors will open at 2:30pm. Tickets for students will be $10 and tickets for RU guests will be $15.
Tickets are on sale online and available at the CASC on Thursday, the 31st from 12pm-12:45pm.
