Since school started, I’ve been so stressed out I could barely do anything with my time besides cry and talk to people about crying instead of doing the work I was crying over. Now that the first two weeks are over and I’ve fixed my schedule to be less overwhelming, I can finally settle in and explore the surrounding area of where I live. This year I decided to live off campus, but in a different town that most people that rent off campus houses choose to live in. The town is very old with a quaint, tree-lined downtown area, which is contrasts the actual city my school is in. There’s a Farmer’s Market down the street that focuses on local Jersey Fresh certified growers, but there are also some vendors with freshly baked bread, cut flowers, fresh fish, pickles, and sometime cheeses. Right next to it is the Artisan’s Market that runs concurrently with the Farmer’s Market where you can find all-natural body products, jams, preserves and more. The vendors that are there are constantly changing so don’t get upset when the stand you want isn’t there. They might be back the next week.

The Highland Park Farmer’s Market is every Friday from the first week of June to around Christmas from 11:30 AM to 5:30 PM in the municipal parking lot between 2nd and 3rd Avenue on Raritan Avenue. It’s probably a 20 minute walk over the bridge from downtown New Brunswick, over the bridge and past the fenced up lot under investigation of environmental cleanup on the right side of the road.
